masterclass course

Masterclasses are aimed at amateur or hobbyist photographers with a good foundation in the basics. You will already have a solid understanding of your camera's mechanics, the role of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance and basic composition.

If you need a refresher in any of these concepts, I recommend taking a look at the 'Beginners and Refreshers' class before embarking on this more advanced class.

Goals of the class

  • Starting to build your lens kit

  • Why you should be shooting RAW to get the most out of your photography

  • Creative use of aperture and shutter speed

  • Understanding filtration and when to use it

  • Deep dive into light and colour, how to master light and use it to create beautiful photographs

  • Master the art of composition and use it to tell a story

  • Edit like a pro with Photoshop, Lightroom and Snapseed

What you need

  • Basic photography skill and familiarity with your camera is required. If you're comfortable with what is covered in the beginners class, then this is the course for you!

  • A camera with manual shooting capabilities

  • A tripod (not a monopod)

Good to know

  • The course takes place over four sessions. Each session has its learning goals and short assignments to complete.

  • The final class is a chance to work on your favourite shots from the previous three classes. I walk you through the entire workflow, taking your photographs from your camera's memory card right through to a finished image ready to print or share online.

  • All classes are accompanied by a digital book covering what was taught in the class, for you to refer back to again and again. You also receive a video demonstrating the editing process for you to return to if you need to refresh your memory on the editing process.

  • We will refer to the work of famous photographers to study composition and use of colour.

  • Each class is 90 minutes in length, with short assignments to complete between classes.

  • Classes take place at Windsor Great Park. If you would prefer to learn in your own home or another location, this an be arranged! Please note, travel will be charged at 45p/mile from TW20.
